President's Message

Welcome to the Erindale Hockey Association. I am truly honoured to be part of such a dedicated, passionate, and talented group of volunteers here at Erindale. I can still remember the early days and my first exposure to this great association, lining up with all the other families in the stairwells at EMTR to hopefully get a spot in the coveted IP program. I never dreamed that things would lead to this.

The Erindale Hockey Association (EHA) was formed in 1946 by Mr. Wally Oughtred and his brother Gord. The Erindale logo includes the famous RAF Spitfire. The Spitfire symbolizes skill, determination, and a never quite attitude. The very attributes that the EHA strives to instill in its players and coaches.

At Erindale hockey, our motto is "skill, determination and a never quit attitude." This motto runs through the entire association from our 100% volunteer run board of directors to our volunteer coach's right down to our cherished players.

Our goal year to year is to ensure that each and every one of our players and families have a successful hockey experience. Erindale encourages all of our players, coaches, and families to learn about teamwork, dedication, fitness, and fair play and to develop community spirit and community involvement amongst all our participants.

Erindale believes in teaching all the players and coaches respect for all those involved in this great game of hockey including game officials, opposing coaches and players, parents from all teams, of course teammates, and most importantly for themselves.

Thanks for choosing the Erindale Hockey association and we will strive to make this a memorable and pleasant hockey experience.

Yours in hockey,

Ted Varty
Erindale Hockey Association

At Erindale, we believe in an athlete-centred approach to teaching the game of hockey. All of our coaches endeavour to develop players to the best of their ability, both on and off the ice.

The EHA has two key objectives:

  1. To provide the maximum opportunity for all children in Mississauga between 4 and 20 years of age to participate in hockey.
  2. To foster the development of hockey and life skills in a positive environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play. Respect for others and fair play are two key values at Erindale. The most important element in developing athletes is to provide them with qualified coaches who create a positive learning environment with lots of enthusiastic encouragement.

Following are additional objectives and goals of the EHA and its members:

  • To foster, promote and teach amateur hockey and to provide maximum opportunity for all eligible individuals on a team to participate as equitably as possible, both during the regular season and playoffs.

  • To develop community spirit and encourage teamwork and sportsmanship and good fellowship amongst all participants to the betterment of their physical, mental and social well-being.

  • To develop, organize and control team competition to the maximum of playing accommodation and financial resources.

  • To sponsor and promote such athletic, social and other activity as may contribute to the financial resources of the organization.

  • To carry on the EHA without financial gain to or benefit of any of its members.

  • To use all revenue solely for the promotion of these purposes and objectives.
